Irvin T. Smith, Jr., age 99, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Monday, December 7, 2020.  He was born on March 29, 1921 in Norristown, PA, a son of the late Irvin T. Sr. and Anna M. (Adamson) and was a 1939 graduate from Norristown High School.  He was married in 1940 to Mildred V. (Cole) Smith who passed away in 2000.  He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1942 and saw action in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima.  He received the American Theatre Medal, Pacific Theatre Victory Medal, two Presidential citations, Iwo Jima Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal.  Mr. Smith and was formerly employed for 35 years at Superior Tube of Collegeville, PA.  He was a member of the Falkner Swamp United Church of Christ, Charity Lodge # 190 F&AM, Norristown, PA and the Boyertown Marine Corps League.  He is survived by two sons: Irvin T. Smith III and Thomas L. Smith both of Wellsboro, PA, granddaughter: Stefanie Kline, great grandchildren: Maggie Kline, Molly Kline, Tyler Kline and Thomas Kline.  A family graveside service will be held at the Falkner Swamp Cemetery, New Hanover, PA.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., www.carletonfh.com Wellsboro, PA.
