Alice L. (Hepler) Deter, age 91, of Wellsboro, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024.  She was born on August 8, 1932 in Ringgold, PA, a daughter of the late Carl and Aldine (Powell) Hepler and was the loving wife of Francis “Frank” Deter, Jr. for 65 years.  She was a retired manager for the Fairfax County Virginia Library Administration and was a member of the Wellsboro United Methodist Church.   She enjoyed Fly Fishing with Frank and traveling with friends and family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She dearly loved her rural home near Wellsboro, PA.  Alice is survived by her husband: Frank Deter, Jr. of Wellsboro, PA, brother: LeRoy (Nancy) Hepler, son: Terry Schrecengost of Andover, OH, daughters: Carol Sarver of Tidioute, PA, Lori (Julie Shore) of Raleigh, NC, Patsy (Dave McCarthy) Lawton of Catharpin, VA, grandchildren: Gregory Schrecengost, Terri Ann (Ryan) Sherry, Jerry Schrecengost, Quinn (Daren) Fisher, Zach (Andrea) White, Francis H. Deter, IV, Kevin Lawton, Jr., Caitlin Alfaro, Carly McCarthy, Austin McCarthy, great grandchildren: Ty Sherry, Katie Schrecengost, Ryker White, Brylee White, Dante Fisher, Connor Deter, Javin Deter, Aubrey Hoopes, Savannah Alfaro, David Alfaro.  She was predeceased by a son: Francis H. Deter, III and a daughter: Julie Deter.  Alice will be remembered by many for her loving & caring way with all those whose lives she touched and for her honest, understanding & compassionate nature. Her memory will be forever cherished by her loving family and friends.  Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 1 to 3 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, www.carletonfh.com Wellsboro, PA.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Elizabeth Jackson officiating.  Interment will be in the Reynoldsville Cemetery, Reynoldsville, PA.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
